Perks:

  • Some great games you won't find anywhere else. Penguins and FATE being two of them. There are lots of arcade games in their "enthusiast" section that are exclusives to WildTangent.
  • The WildCoins system is a novel idea, and at 75 for $12.99 monthly commitment, is cheaper than FunPass - if you don't play as much as Gamepass. The games are better. Most games only cost 1-4 coins per session and each session is as long as you like - just don't close the game.
  • Your WildCoins roll-over into the next month if you don't use them up.
  • They have Lumines PC as an exclusive. Haven't played Lumines? You have no idea what you're missing.
  • Your WildCoin purchases goes into credit towards buying a game. Here they have the FunPass trumped. You get $0.25 back for each WildCoin spent. You can use these credits to lower the cost of buying games, to a minimal price of $5. With this system, you could play all month with your credits, then spend your credits on your favorites.
  • You can "checkout" your WildCoins to your computer so that once your games are downloaded, you can use offline WildCoins and won't have to connect to the internet until you run out of WildCoins.

Quirks:

  • A CD is $8.95, no bonuses.
  • They only take credit cards.
  • This is a subscription plan so you don't own any of the games.
  • They don't generally run coupon code promotions for casual users.
  • You can transfer WildCoins from online to offline, but not the other way around.
  • Their categories are somewhat arbitrary: some games that you find in the "family" section you really expect in the "casual" section. There is a search box though.
